China-Korea Joint International Research Laboratory on Innovation and Low Carbon Development launches inauguration ceremony

On December 16, China-Korea Joint International Research Laboratory on Innovation and Low Carbon Development launched the inauguration ceremony in Bengbu, Anhui Province. The laboratory was established by the joint efforts of Anhui University of Finance and Economics, China (AUFE) and Chungnam National University, South Korea (CNU). Professor Zhu Hongjun, President of AUFE, and Wu Genye, Vice President of Korean economic society and Dean of School of Economics and Management, Chungnam National University, jointly inaugurated the laboratory. Professor Song Manlin, Vice President of AUFE, and Professor Wu Genye signed a cooperation agreement on behalf of both sides.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by more than 300 guests from universities, industrial parks and the press, including Chen Shiyi, Professor of School of Economics, Fudan University, Huang Jianshu, President of The Chinese Institute of Business Administration and Professor of Institute of Industrial Economics of Cass, Keun Lee, Chief Editor of Research Policy and Professor of Seoul National University, Zhao Yupu, Vice President of Shangdong University, Weihai, Hong Chang Pyo, KOTRA General Representative of China Region, Choi Yong Rok, Dean of School of Global Governance, Inha University, Wu Genye, Vice President of Korean economic society and Dean of School of Economics and Management, Chungnam National University, Zhang Lixiao, Vice Dean of School of Environment, Beijing Normal University, Feng Xiaoming, Deputy Editor of China & World Economy, Liao Zhongju, Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management, Zhejiang Sci-tech University, Cheng Ming, Director of Yancheng Sino-Korean Industrial Park, and Sun Anhua, Director of Yantai Sino-Korean Industrial Park.

Zhu Hongjun delivered the welcome speech and briefed on the university's development history, discipline construction, talent cultivation, scientific research and international cooperation. He pointed out that, in the 31 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and South Korea, the friendly exchanges have achieved remarkable results and brought significant benefits to the people of the two countries with joint efforts of both sides in the industrial chain, education chain and talent chain. He hoped that the participants to take this forum as an opportunity to stimulate innovative ideas, strengthen cooperation and exchanges, and promote in-depth cooperation between China and South Korea in the fields of green development, digital economy, and carbon finance, so as to contribute more China-South Korea wisdom to a beautiful Asia.

The laboratory is designed to closely watch the frontiers in green and low-carbon energy development and tries to utilize the comparative advantages of China and South Korea to build an international cooperation platform for low-carbon development and carbon finance. In the meantime, it will cooperate in the cultivation of outstanding talents and create an open and innovative laboratory ecosystem by integrating both industrial and educational resources.
