On the morning of June 8, Professor Li Jianglong of the School of Economics and Finance of Xi 'an Jiaotong University gave an academic lecture entitled The Challenge of power system Flexibility and related cost Issues in the process of realizing the goal of dual carbon in China. The lecture was presided over by Liang Zhong, vice president of our college, and the teachers in our college listened to the lecture.
Professor Li Jianglong's lecture was carried out from two aspects: Carbon peak carbon neutrality will lead a broad and profound economic and social systemic change, and the change in the energy system is mainly achieved through the two paths of energy efficiency improvement and energy cleanliness. Considering the impact of large-scale replacement of wind power and photovoltaic on both sides of supply and demand, the economic and social costs caused by the flexibility challenge of the power system have become an urgent problem to be quantified. On this basis, Professor Li Jianglong constructed a two-stage econometric analysis model to measure the impact of new energy substitution on coal-fired power generation hours and coal-fired power generation hours on coal-fired power generation efficiency, and then studied the new indirect costs and additional carbon emissions that were widely ignored in the process of providing flexibility for renewable energy with coal-fired units.
In the interactive session of the lecture, in response to the problem of how to balance the green low-carbon transition and ensure the security and stable supply of energy under the two-carbon goal, Professor Li Jianglong pointed out that in the process of achieving carbon peak carbon neutrality, it is urgent to comprehensively examine the potential sources of flexibility in the power system, and guide timely and sufficient flexibility resource investment through market-oriented mechanisms. In addition, Professor Li Jianglong also exchanged and discussed with the teachers present on thesis writing, fund application and career planning for young teachers.
Professor Li Jianglong's lectures are of great academic value, with vivid and novel explanations and rigorous and detailed argumentation. It not only deepens the teachers' cognition of the latest progress in the field of energy economics, but also provides inspiration and reference for young teachers to carry out scientific research.
