It also marked the establishment of Academic Council for Laboratory of Low Carbon Development and Carbon Finance.

Yu Baotao delivered the welcome speech. He first expressed sincere thanks to all leaders, experts and scholars for their consistent support in AUFE construction, development and reform. He also briefed on AUFE development from five aspects, namely, discipline construction, faculty cultivation, talent training, scientific research, and open schooling. He pointed out that finance is the bloodline of the national economy and an important part of the country's core competitiveness. To accelerate the construction of a strong financial country is to promote science and technology finance, green finance, inclusive finance, pension finance, digital finance and to tailor financial services for high-quality development of the economy. Promoting green and low carbon development in economy and society is key to achieving high-quality development; thus it is essential to seize this strategic opportunity to promote the construction of the laboratory and the innovation and development of Finance as a discipline, so that they will serve this goal, support the harmonious coexistence of human and nature in the process of China’s modernization, and contribute to the high-quality development of financial services. He hoped that by launching this forum, AUFE would continue to strengthen cooperation and exchange within and outside the university, and provide more suggestions for high-quality economic and social development.

Tang Guofu then expressed warm congratulations on the establishment of Academic Council for Laboratory of Low Carbon Development and Carbon Finance. He stated that the establishment of the laboratory was an attempt of disciplinary integration in the direction of serving the State and the local region. It was advisable to study the financial support initiatives to achieve the “dual-carbon” goal, and explore the financial support system and methods in line with China’s national conditions from the dimensions of “active government” and “effective market”. Liang Xiangjun pointed out that the laboratory should highlight the characteristics, features and advantages of AUFE in the development of philosophy and social sciences. To this end, the laboratory should further improve the internal management system and operation mechanism, comprehensively promote the cooperation between government, industry, academia and research, play a leading role in exploring the construction of philosophical and social science laboratories with Chinese characteristics, provide strong support for the prosperity of China’s academics and the acceleration of the construction of a modernized and beautiful Anhui Province. Liang Liang added that there is a huge financial gap in the transition to a low-carbon economy, and as an innovation in the financial system to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, carbon finance should play a leveraging role in optimizing emission reductions and directing funds to the dual-carbon sector. He hoped that in the future, the Laboratory would be able to continue to maintain a multidisciplinary research approach utilizing knowledge in management, energy science, economic science, environmental science, and information science, carry out simulation research on low-carbon behavior of economic subjects, explore carbon financial product innovation and design of financial standards and incentive mechanisms for transition based on carbon financial big data, and thus further promote carbon financial supply innovation.
