Notice on the 11th National Academic and Creative Competition on Energy Economics for College Students

To all relevant units:

The China National College Students Competition on Energy Economics (hereinafter referred to as the Competition) is a national competition hosted by the China Research Society of Optimization, Overall Planning and Economic Mathematics (CSOOPEM) and undertaken by the Professional Committee of Low-carbon Development Management of the China Research Society of SOOPEM. In March 2023, it was officially included in the Competition Catalogue for College Students of National General Higher Education Institutions released by the China Association of Higher Education.

Founded in 2015 and led by the Professional Committee of Low-carbon Development Management of CSOOPEM, the Competition was jointly initiated by more than 20 universities and scientific research institutions. After ten years of development, the China National College Students Competition on Energy Economics has become an important competition that responds to the major strategic needs of the country and helps cultivate talents for the Dual Carbon goals. It provides a platform for college students to stimulate their innovative awareness, inspire innovative thinking, and enhance their creative abilities. With the Competition ranking among the competitions for college students of national general higher education institutions, the participation and influence of the 11th China National College Students Competition on Energy Economics will achieve a great development. We welcome students to actively participate in the Competition, showcase their talents, and make contributions to ecological civilization and green, low-carbon and sustainable development!

The China National College Students Competition on Energy Economics is open to undergraduate students and postgraduate students of general higher education institutions. It is held once a year and adopts a three-level competition system consisting of school competitions, regional competitions, and national competitions. Competition teams shall register on the official website of the Competition and compete for a higher-level competition. The Competition has an Expert Committee, an Organizing Committee, an Arbitration Committee, and a Secretariat, which are responsible for academic guidance, competition system formulation, organizational management, supervision and arbitration, result release, and other matters throughout the Competition.

The units serving as the secretary-general of the Competition include the Institute of Science and Development, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beihang University, China University of Petroleum (Beijing), China University of Geosciences (Beijing), North China Electric Power University, Taiyuan University of Technology, and Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The Competition is technically supported by the Energy Professional Knowledge Service System of the Engineering Science and Technology Knowledge Center of the Chinese Academy of Engineering.

The selection work of the Anhui Province Division of the 11th China National College Students Competition on Energy Economics is hosted by the Academic Affairs Office and the Entrepreneurship College of Anhui University of Finance and Economics (AUFE), and the School of Statistics and Applied Mathematics of AUFE and the Key Laboratory of Philosophy and Social Sciences of Anhui Province for Low-carbon Development and Carbon Finance are responsible for the specific undertaking matters. The relevant matters of the Competition are hereby notified as follows:

I. Schedule

(1) registration period: October 14 - November 17, 2024

(2) submission period of works: February 24 - March 9, 2025

Submission System: energy.qibebt.ac.cn/eneco/contribution/ (The only channel for submitting works. Submissions via email or other channels will not be accepted.)

(3) preliminary review of works, school-level and regional Competitions

Time: March 10 - April 13, 2025

(4) communication review and on-site review of the national competition

Time: April 15 - May 10, 2025

(The list of finalists will be announced on the official website of the Competition in mid-May.)

(5) final competition and award ceremony

Time: Mid-to-late May 2025

II. Specifications for Participation

(1) Participants: Undergraduate students, master's students, and doctoral students of various universities in Anhui Province. Students from foreign universities need to participate in affiliation with a university in Anhui Province.

(2) Team Formation Method: The event is divided into the undergraduate group and the postgraduate group. A team with one or more postgraduate students belongs to the postgraduate group. Each participating team consists of 1-4 students.

(3) Supervising Teachers: The works shall be independently completed by the students of the participating teams, and 0-2 supervising teachers can be invited for academic guidance.

(4) Themes of Works: The themes of the participating works include but are not limited to energy and low-carbon economy, energy finance and carbon finance, energy environment and climate change, energy strategy and energy security, carbon asset management and carbon neutrality, energy market and carbon market, energy and environmental policies, operation and management of energy enterprises, and application of pan-energy big data.

(5) Types of Participation: The event is divided into the undergraduate group and the postgraduate group. Each group has one of 4 choices to sign up for, namely, energy economics, energy finance and management, research and innovation and entrepreneurship, and Pan-energy Big Data. When registering, Pan-energy Big Data can be selected as an additional track for the other 3 tracks. To encourage college students to go deep into the grassroots level and invent in practice, non-research paper works will be given appropriate preference during the evaluation process.

(6) Limitation Provisions: Each student can participate in a maximum of two works, and there can only be one work as the first author.

(7) Academic Integrity: Plagiarism of participating works is prohibited, and it is prohibited to use publicly published patents, works, or papers (or after modification) to participate in the Competition. Papers that have not been accepted by a journal before the registration deadline are regarded as compliant works. The Competition does not accept works that have won awards in other national competitions. The authors of the works entering the national competition need to sign an integrity commitment letter. If academic misconduct is found at any stage of the Competition or after the Competition, the Organizing Committee of the Competition has the right to revoke the participation qualification, the award certificate, and notify the affiliated university.

(8) Requirements for Anonymous Evaluation: The name of the school (including the name of the affiliated secondary institution), the name of the student, the name of the supervising teacher, the name of the funding institution, and other information shall not appear on the cover and in the main text of the work. All works that have not been anonymized will not pass the preliminary review! The registration system is for real-name registration, and the system will automatically assign a number to each work.
